Organic, Fair Trade Decaf Coffees

Coffee Exchange decaf coffees are decaffeinated by an all-water process called Swiss Water Process (SWP) which uses no chemicals. Green coffee beans are soaked in water, separating the caffeine and flavor elements from the coffee bean. After filtering the water through activated charcoal, the beans are returned to the filtered hot water where the flavor elements are reabsorbed by the coffee.

Is a unique blend of dark-roasted African, Asian and Latin American coffees that stands up to the rigors of espresso, maintains that great crema and, with a heady full body and intense flavor, and - even though it's DECAF - still provides that sweet, yet robust and satisfying redolent espresso experience.

Decaf Sumatra – Gayo Mountain
With sweet earthy aromatics, Sumatra has a well-deserved reputation as a full bodied and syrupy coffee with sweet soft acidity and distinct fruity and earthy characteristics. While the American Roast certainly mirrors this reputation, with that big round full body and bright acidity, the French Roast goes further with that heavy semi-sweet earthiness you'd expect from Sumatra.

Mel’s Private Stock (Decaffeinated)
During the late '70s, early '80s Mel, Rose, Charlie and Bill Fishbein were in another (cookware) business. We sold coffee by the bean, but there wasn't a whole lot of decaf available. All the decaf that was available seemed to taste like decaf. And Sanka. So with a couple of Chemex automatics, a half dozen clipboards, and a supply of what was available in Swiss Water Process decaffeinated coffees, Mel began blending coffee in his basement. The Goal: find a decaf that tasted like "REAL" coffee. The Result, (after five years of testing): Mel’s Private Stock - Decaffeinated™. Mel's has been our decaf house blend ever since, brewed daily 30 years at Coffee Exchange.
